I wouldn't worry about what other people are thinking about the items you are purchasing, you could be picking up nail polish remover for your mom, wife, etc. I would be worried about getting the stain out of your carpet and this is the only thing (besides paint thinner) that will work.

Blot up as much as possible with a tissue. Then test the effect of non-oily nail polish remover on an inconspicuous part of the carpet. If there are no ill effects to the carpet pile, apply the nail polish remover with an eye dropper or a non-silver spoon, blotting immediately after each application. Always use non-oily polish remover. If regular nail polisher remover does not work, buy straight acetone at a beauty supply store , pretest again, and apply as directed above. Once you have removed as much as possible (have patience) follow with Spot Shot Carpet Stain Remover, applied according to the directions. If color staining remains, apply hydrogen peroxide to lighten or bleach the stain.Whats the best way of getting enamel paint off my carpet....?
Did you try finger nail polish remover? We used that to get ink pen out.
