Is enamel paint all the same?

I bought some enamel paint to re-finish an old wood dresser. Can I now use the same paint to paint a metal door?Is enamel paint all the same?

Enamel is not the actual paint but the hardness of the dried coating. You will find water based enamel or oil based enamel. Read the label for what that specific paint is designed for.Is enamel paint all the same?
You should be able to. Check the label on the paint can to see what it says. The door will probably need to be primed first. If the paint is latex, use a latex primer. Sand lightly before priming, then apply 2 finish coats over the primer. Hope this helps.
