Is it ok to paint a basement wall with an enamel paint? when i first moved in, we painted the walls with?

basement paint. the paint has held up generally well.

in a couple spots it has chipped off. this paint was applied to the foundation walls. the basement is unfinished.

would it be ok to paint over this with an enamel paint to clean it up a bit and alsot wipes clean easily and forms a coating that wouldn't chip?

the house was built in the 1930's and the basement foundation walls are some sort of plaster type material. Is it ok to paint a basement wall with an enamel paint? when i first moved in, we painted the walls with?
A really good choice is a product that just came out from the Kilz company. They offer a huge variety of color options, just like regular paint, but it performs like primer - sticks well and easy to clean. I've purchased it at Wal-Mart. It's really an awesome product. Make sure you have adequate ventilation while you're working and use a very thick napped paint roller. That should do the trick.
