What is the difference between primer and enamel paint?

Primer is usually a flat paint of the same color you want to paint a room or whatever you are painting. It goes on as a first coat before you use the finish coats. Enamel is a high gloss paint that is scrubbable and usually moisture proof. It is used in bathrooms and kitchens. There are also Flat - washable; Satin - washable and OK for medium traffic areas; and Semi-Gloss - scrubbable, for high traffic areas.
