Is it true that ';enamel paint'; makes home heat?

I am preparing to paint(interior%26amp;exterior) my new contructed house that, which type and kind of painting keeps my house cool?.please suggest. Is it true that ';enamel paint'; makes home heat?

Externally, darker paints absorb heat and can get very hot they generally need repainting sooner than light colours which reflect heat and stay cooler.

So if it were to make a difference stay with light colours.

Hi, Tafs got it right, id like to add that acrylic paints are far superior these days for exterior and interior painting with the exception of windows, door frames, doors, skirtings and bathrooms. Hope this helps.

Whoever gave me thumbs down doesn't know what they are talking about, i am a painting contractor and have been for 25 years, don't you just hate ignorant people.
Light colors reflect light, dark colors absorb it. It's that simple.
