Painting..Looking for a clear matte finish that is not spray that can cover an enamel oil base paint?

You can purchase a varnish that is used to seal oil paintings. It comes in both a matte and gloss finish. My wife uses it on her art work to protect it before she has it framed.

You can purchase this type of material at more craft stores in either a spray can or a brush on type.

You can also get a satin wipe on poly from MinWax that does a pretty good job but it may not be as close to a matte finish as you want. It is very easy to apply since you just wipe it on with a clean soft rag.Painting..Looking for a clear matte finish that is not spray that can cover an enamel oil base paint?
I actully saw a product like that at WalMart the other day. It caught my attention because I have a mural I would like to preserve. Don't know how well it works, but it was in a paint can not spray.Painting..Looking for a clear matte finish that is not spray that can cover an enamel oil base paint?
YOU LOOK AT ANY CLEAR COAT IT IS GOING TO YELLOW AS IS OIL PAINT.OIL IS NOTHING MORE THAN OIL BASE VARNISH WITH PIGMENT YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF PUTTING ON ANOTHER COAT OF PAINT AS THE CLEAR WILL REDUCE THE DURABILITY OF THE FINISH(easily scratched etc)IF YOU MUST DO IT WAY 3 TO 4 MONTHS FOR THE OIL PAINT TO CURE OR YOU WILKL HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS(peeling.yelloing, cracking)
